Planning for my cover models costume/props

I decided that I wanted to take close up shots of my model's face for my magazine cover. I wanted to do this to display the confidence she embodies with her face rather than her body. I wanted my audience to be able to see the glow in her eyes, and the acceptance and love she has for herself. This would mean that there wouldn't be a full costume, instead, we'd focus on her hair and makeup. We will be using a pastel tapestry as the backdrop and ensuring that her makeup look compliments the background. Furthermore, we will be using a tripod LED ring light to take these pictures. I wanted to use this to properly capture her essence with the best lighting.

Article layout draft

I used Canva.com once again to create a layout of how I want my article to look. I'm hoping to frame my own pictures at the top of the page so the article can be written underneath with some pictures included. The page on the left would be a full-sized picture of one of my models.

Table of Contents layout draft

Today, I used Canva.com for the table of contents templates. I chose this one specifically because it was very subtle but still nice enough to include. It looked organized and had a slight touch of light purple on the sides. However, for my official contents page, I would like a different font because it wasn't as bold or eyecatching as I would have liked it to be. Additionally, If possible I'd like to make the colors on the side different to represent the LGBTQ+ flag.

Mood Board

This Moodboard allows me to imagine the outcome of my magazine. I really like the idea of soft pastel colors, however, because my topic does include the LGBTQ+ community, I may use all the colors in the rainbow to represent their flag. This also helps me form ideas on how I want to make my magazine including colors and layout. I want a brighter color scheme to really emphasize my topics. I also want it to look vibrant to create a sense of happiness and confidence. I believe that using a darker color scheme may look more serious or less appealing to my demographic.

Studying Color Schemes

I wanted to study the color schemes of different magazines to find out ways in which I can coordinate my magazine.  This magazine includes the colors red, white, and black.  This magazine includes the colors pink, red, and black. This magazine includes the colors pink, black, and yellow.   When creating my magazine, I need to ensure that the colors I input match with the environment, costume, or the props being worn by my model like in these magazines. Color Schemes can subconsciously attract many people. Using the right colors in my magazine may attract a wider audience.

Costume/Props

The Importance of Costumes & Props:  Costumes and props are both essential to creating an idea about someone or something. Costumes can help set a theme, as well as help you understand someone a little better. For instance, before you truly get to know someone, you only judge them based on their appearance and the way they dress. Sometimes people can form relationships based on similarities in how they dress or present themselves. For instance, if we look at the music industry we are able to recognize the differences between how a male rapper presents himself with clothing and props vs how a female rapper does. Below are some pictures that distinguish the difference.             Most female rappers tend to wear tight clothing that emphasizes certain body parts. Additionally, they tend to hide their natural hair with different types of hair extensions. However, most male rappers are seen with braids or dreads and baggy clothing. I believe these differences have a lot to do with bo

Evaluating Preliminary Task

Evaluation: The preliminary task gave me the opportunity to improve my creative skills and expand my knowledge of photoshop/ photo editing.  It took longer than expected because I had to ensure that the color schemes fit my theme, the fonts depicted the feeling and message I wanted to convey, and that the pictures were placed in a way that would attract a wider audience.  Layout: The layout of my cover magazine followed all the necessary conventions. I used this picture of my puppy because it portrays him as sweet and playful. He looked comfortable and happy and I thought it would attract more dog lovers. Placing him in the center was the best option for my magazine because it allowed me to place the cover lines around him without directly covering any part of that image. The masthead is dark green and right above the cover model. I chose green because the picture was taken outside and blends right in with the grass. Additionally, cover lines are placed on the left of the cover model
